Perry Noble has a good post today and, in a very real sense, it’s a story definition of a word we use a lot - namely “missional”. You need to read the whole thing but here’s an excerpt:

Afterwards I just sat there thinking about how discouraged I had felt because Rooney did not immediately respond and was reminded that Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that He makes all things beautiful in HIS time. God had a plan–I could not see it, but He allowed me to be a part of it–and for that I am thankful. The reason for me sharing that story is this…I know there are people who read this site who have lost friends and family members. You’ve tried to share Christ with them. You’ve tried inviting them to church. You’ve tried EVERYTHING you can think of and they just don’t seem to be coming around. Reality is this–You and I don’t have a clue as to what God might be doing in and around them! Don’t give up! Keep praying for them. Keep encouraging them. Keep being their friend. Keep inviting them.

Now beyond the fact that Perry used a cornerstone verse for Eternity (which is always cool), it still remains that we need to have relationships and friendships regardless of the outcomes of our evangelistic efforts. Ultimately, God has placed Eternity into the heart of every man, and in one fashion or another everyone will attempt to satisfy that longing somehow. We need to live with an eternal perspective and understand that Jesus had eternity in mind for us.
