Praise the Lord - I saw the light!
I love LifePoint. And I’m passionate about Eternity. Last night I had the fortune of walking into our building when our worship team was rehearsing for this upcoming week’s service. And I was absolutely thrilled at what I heard.
Within the first few months of us being at LifePoint, we wrapped up a service with “I’ll Fly Away” and when I was doing announcements at the end, I said that particular song is like “crack for the Christian”. Well praise God for the fix cause they’re doing it again this weekend, but that’s not all of it.
Hank Williams Sr. wrote a song with the following lyrics:
I wandered so aimless life filed with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear Saviour in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the lord I saw the light.
I saw the light I saw the light
no more darkness no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the lord I saw the light.
Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the lord I saw the light.
I was a fool to wander and astray
Straight is the gate and narrow the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the lord I saw the light.
And so - our band is doing a modern rendition of that song as well. And you know what, for all we talk about making Jesus “relevant” in today’s society (and I believe whole heartedly in contextualization), there are some times where I just love to sit back and have a good toe tapper and celebration. And last I checked, no matter what culture we’re in, we should be thanking Jesus for letting us see the light.
Life has plenty of suffering. But praise the Lord, I saw the Light.
For those who would love to see an original version done from the Grand Ole Opry - you can watch the video below. Have a great day!
