Jason,

Great points and I think those are very good expectations. I love the Job reference because many of us, me included, when suffering comes want to bow out and quit the fight. However, it's through that suffering, just as Jesus was, that we are perfected.

Through our sins, our shame, our idiocy, we become more like Jesus because the gulf between our sin and His holiness becomes more apparent.

I expect God to be my everything, everytime and everywhere. As for who I expect myself to be...I expect myself to be a Godly father, soon to be a Godly husband and someone of whom God can look at Satan and say "see my servant, Jason? You've tormented him and attacked him and twisted him and he still loves me and desires to serve me with all that he is."

I don't think that's too high a goal.
