This journey to Eternity has been at one time or another interesting, confusing, heart-breaking, challenging, discouraging, encouraging, glorious and thrilling. A wide range of emotions. A test to be sure. And we haven’t even moved yet!
This morning, I came across a post from Bob Roberts at NorthWood whose church is a church planting machine. I would encourage you to read the whole thing but here’s an excerpt:
Move forward leader, plant your feet firmly and clearly. Have courage - everything gonna be OK. Just seek God. Victory is on the way. God wants to fulfill his will, it’s not your work, but his. He planted those dreams - if anything, the difficulty will strengthen you and serve as a lesson to remembered as you move forward. Often, those hard times serve as “stones” on the Jordan to remind people where we came from, and where we aren’t going back to . . .
As I read it, I was reminded that, over the last few months, there have been things that have discouraged me and caused me to think twice about whether God was still in this thing. I’m certain He called us to plant a church. So what gives with the challenges?
And as I read Bob’s post, I was reminded that the obstacles serve to strengthen and build resolve in me. This is not going to be smooth. This is not going to be easy. But, it is definitely what God has called me to do.
And if you hang in there, there will be moments where God clearly reminds you He is and always was with you. One of those moments came yesterday as we were blessed by a situation that will not only provide financially for our family as we plant Eternity, but will also serve to significantly help Eternity financially as it gets its young legs underneath it.
God floored me yesterday. It’s almost like He was there the whole time.
