For those who know me, you’re seeing that I’m reading this book and thinking to yourselves “Boy that was a long time coming”.
And you would be right. The thing that I was pleased to learn reading this book was that I had been exposed to a great deal of its content already through various sermons and conferences that I have been to where CJ spoke.
CJ Mahaney is extremely refreshing to me. He’s refreshing because I see and taste so much of what I long for God to do in me through his writings. He is warm, affectionate, and keenly aware of the presence of God day in and day out in even the smallest things. His sermons and writings are extremely engaging and life-transforming.
There are very few (and when I say very few I mean two) people that are influencing me and challenging me more right now than Mahaney.
This is a great book. If you’ve listened to much of CJ’s sermon material, you’ll have already been exposed to a great deal of the content, but if you’ve never listened to CJ Mahaney or read any of his other books, this would be a great place to start.
The book is 170 pages long but it is a small booklet format so in reality you’re probably reading about 60 - 80 pages and should be able to easily digest this book in a week’s time. But my suggestion would be that you take much longer to let it soak in and examine yourself as your process it. This would be one of those books that you would want to read 3-4 times a year just as a refresher and a reminder of what lies inside.
In short, you have to read this book.
