Is it not a splendid thought that when we do anything for God, though it be but the simple offering of a prayer, or the helping of a fatherless child, we may do it with all the holy dignity of princely priests — Charles Spurgeon

God is amazing to me - though I wish I lived more aware of that than I do. As I think about the Gospel and the impact I long for it to have on Jefferson City and at Eternity, one of the main themes in my thoughts over the last few weeks is identity.

We don’t know who we are as Christians. We don’t properly appreciate our state. We don’t think long on our condition. In short, we don’t understand our office.

We are spiritual paupers no longer. We are prostitutes no more. No, having been saved by the grace of Almighty God, we have been transformed into a royal priesthood. We have been made citizens of a holy nation. We stand as joint heirs to the throne of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We are adopted as sons of a Holy Heavenly Father.

And whatever our earthly office may be whether it be a janitor, an office worker, a salesman, a doctor, a politician, or a king they all pale in comparison to the state that shall be and is currently ours.

Do you know who you are in Christ? Do you live with the proper identity and what it means to wear the name Christian? Do you grasp the magnitude of your adoption?
