Ours is the kingdom of Jesus Christ, in which the gospel is the law, believers are the privileged subjects, and grace and glory are the revenue, - a kingdom daily growing in brightness, a kingdom which shall consummate its glory in the eternal world when Christ shall have put all enemies under his feet, and his people shall reign with him for ever and ever. — Charles Spurgeon
I preached yesterday out of Hebrews 12 about receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And I wonder what most Christians have received? When we ask people if they have received Christ, if they answer yes, I think a necessary question to ask them is then “What Christ have you received?”.
And I would ask you the same question today? What Jesus have you received?
- Is it the Jesus who replaced law with gospel?
- Is it the Jesus who made the blind to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear and the dead to rise?
- Is it the Jesus who rose and conquered the grave?
- Is it the Jesus whose blood bought millions who will inhabit the New Heavens and the New Earth?
- Is it the Jesus who tenderly reached out to the prostitute caught in adultery?
- Is it the Jesus who pleads with you to repent, die to yourself, and find life like you’ve never had before?
- Is it the Jesus who will one day put all enemies under his feet?
- It is the Jesus who loved His enemies and prayed for those who persecuted Him and demands you do the same?
- Is it the Jesus who will one day walk with you, eat with you, and be in your presence as you reign with Him for all of eternity?
Or are you still following a Jesus that you think demands you try and work for His approval? Because if you are, you’re not following the Jesus of the Bible. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
Receive grace today. Receive a Jesus who wants you to focus not on what you’ve done or not done, but rather on what HE DID! Find rest in that Jesus today.
