I’m truly coming to believe that one of the biggest enemies I’m facing as a church planter is distraction. They are everywhere. Things that are vying for my attention, begging for me to waste time on, and take my focus off of the mission of planting Eternity.

Today was a perfect example as my early morning was spent consuming precious mental energy on something that in the end, really isn’t going to make a bit of difference in whether or not Eternity moves forward and the Gospel is proclaimed here in Jefferson City.

I am prone to giving in to distractions. I am prone to take my focus off of what’s important. I’m prone to spend precious time on things that are secondary to the grand scheme of why God has called me to JC.

And when I realized that what I was focusing on this morning was a distraction and moved my attention off of it, God gave me the perfect opportunity to share about Eternity with someone who has been out of church for a while and who is really looking to re-engage a community of believers but is cautious and leery of coming to a “fake” church. And I think they will be there Sunday night as we begin our core group meetings.

Three days away. Talking about our first and primary value “The Gospel“…so many things to do…very little time to get them done in…Eternity is what deserves my time…NOT distractions….
