Church planting certainly is a life of variety. In the course of 24 hours, I have attended a board meeting for the Stained Glass Theatre to talk about the great partnership that God is building with them.

Then, because of a water leak that is buried underneath cubic yards of concrete and retaining walls, I had the privilege of assisting in the jack-hammering of a section of my driveway. Photos may be released already, please don’t look at them.

I’ve also had the privilege of sitting in on a meeting for the Downtown Jefferson City Association and meeting many of the business owners that make their living in this very historic part of Jefferson City. I’m so jacked up (maybe from jack-hammering) about how Eternity can serve and love this vital region of Jeff City.

And now I’ve finished reading some Jonathan Edwards in preparation for our session this Sunday at Eternity called “What Is The Church?”…Edwards saw this as such a vital thing to understand that he wrote these words:

But as the influences of the true Spirit abounded, so counterfeits did also abound: the devil was abundant in mimicking, both the ordinary and extraordinary influences of the Spirit of God, as is manifest by innumerable passages of the apostle’s writings. This made it very necessary that the church of Christ should be furnished with certain rules, distinguishing and clear marks, by which she might proceed safely in judging the true from the false without danger of being imposed on.

No matter what is going on in life, I want to do everything I flippin can to make sure that Eternity stays true to the Bible for the Glory of God. Meetings are awesome. Physical labor is exhausting. Moving dirt is a pain. But the church of God is eternal. And it matters more than all of that.
