It’s bad enough that we don’t understand who people are. It’s bad enough that we don’t see them as God’s masterpieces. It’s bad enough that we don’t see them as people created in the image of God. That’s bad enough but there is something worse than that.

What’s worse is that we are intentionally disobedient, snot nosed little brats who don’t want to do what we know we’ve been told to do. That was my second reason in my talk and I hypothesized that a big reason we don’t have any friends who don’t know Jesus is because WE DON’T WANT to have them. Because secretly, deep down we’re hoping they get nuked by God and pay the price for their life stupidity. We want to see them destroyed. We really do mean the phrase and long to say it to them that they can just go to hell.

And in that way we’re no different than Jonah. But there are a few things to note. One, God can make you do something. Two, Not obeying can cause you a lot of pain. Three, not having friends who don’t know Jesus is completely contradictory to the heart of God!
